I’ve always been a teacher, ask my younger sister. She might call it bossy, but I would call it “teaching.” I have also always been a reader; therefore, it makes perfect sense that I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in English literature in 1998. Learning is also a passion of mine, so I didn’t stop there. In 2000, I graduated (again), from UTK with a Masters in Secondary English Education. I went back to school (I know…again) to the University of Georgia to learn more about teaching English language learners and just how language works. And because I am a bit obsessed with all things learning -once again, I went back to UTK and got another grad degree in information science! Whew!

I’ve taught everything from high school English to reptile conservation to kindergarteners while holding a boa constrictor when I worked at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta! Really!
Obviously, I love learning and teaching. I also love reading, writing, cooking, and gardening – in which I use a lot of science!
Oh, and travel? Yes, please. Our family has had many amazingly adventurous years – including living in England.
I have a spunky seventeen year old, a fervent fourteen year old, a handsome husband, two darling dogs, and three comedic cats.
Did I mention I also love poetic devices? I am as subtle as an elephant.
That’s what they tell me.
